KPMG and Stibo partner in France on data management

KPMG and Stibo Group, a firm founded more than a century before the invention of the computer, will work together to help companies in France modernize their software operations.

The news is notable partly because Stibo now ranks as one of the oldest firms in KPMG’s ecosystem of software partners.

Denmark-based Stibo was originally founded in 1794 as a printing house. The firm got its start in Denmark’s second largest city, Aarhus, where its headquarters is located to this day.

Stibo went through multiple pivots in the past two centuries.

The firm launched a newspaper soon after its launch and later expanded into the telephone directory business. In 1976, Stibo established a unit to help companies manage their business data, which continues to be a major focus for the firm.

Data management is also the focus of the firm’s new partnership with KPMG in France.

The partnership involves a Stibo subsidiary called Stibo Systems that sells software for managing business information. Companies use the software to store product details, data about shoppers’ buying habits and business documents.

The primary benefit of Stibo Systems’ software is that it allows companies to keep important information in one place. This reduces the risk of employees creating multiple, disparate copies of business records that can get out of sync over time.

Stibo Systems’ software also allows different companies to share data with one another. A smartphone manufacturer might leverage the platform to share product marketing materials with retailers that carry its hardware.

Through the partnership with Stibo Systems, KPMG will assist companies in France with the task of implementing the Danish firm’s data management software.

KPMG has a sizable change management practice. The practice works with companies to more smoothly implement business changes, such as upgrading the software that a firm’s employees use to manage company data.

KPMG can guide a firm’s executives through the process of rolling out a technology product like Stibo Systems’ software. KPMG also works with leadership teams to ensure that employees keep using newly deployed software once the initial rollout is complete.

“Data transformation is not only about technology, it’s about business processes, organization, governance and change management,” commented Frédéric Collet, KPMG’s head of partnerships in France. “Stibo Systems and KPMG share the same purpose – assisting our customers and clients in extracting the full potential and value from technology through the entire journey.”
