DJH Mitten Clarke doubles down on IT with CTO hire

Fast-growing U.K. accounting firm DJH Mitten Clarke has appointed veteran IT executive Paul Freeman as its chief technology officer.

The appointment follows two years in which the firm significantly expanded its business operations. DJH Mitten Clarke has acquired four accounting and financial consulting practices since the beginning of 2021, increasing its headcount to more than 300 employees in the process.

As a firm’s headcount grows, its IT requirements change. Newly appointed CTO Paul Freeman will be responsible for ensuring that DJH Mitten Clarke’s IT systems can keep up with its workforce growth.

“Following a period of rapid growth, we need to fully align our IT services, systems and processes across our offices,” said DJH Mitten Clarke group managing director Scott Heath. “This will enhance the services that we offer our customers and streamline the experience for our team, enabling us to be as efficient and effective as possible.”

Freeman joins the firm after serving in IT leadership roles at several small and midsize U.K. companies. The executive has also worked as a technology consultant, advising firms on tasks such as implementing automation software.

The appointment of Freeman as CTO comes a few months after DJH Mitten Clarke hired a mergers and acquisitions director. The latter hire strongly suggests that the firm plans to continue acquiring other companies as part of its business roadmap.

Integrating a newly acquired company, and in particular its IT systems, into a firm’s business operations can be a time-intensive process. Having another IT executive on the team will ease the technical aspects of the task for DJH Mitten Clarke, which should streamline any future acquisitions it makes.
