Sony partners with Deloitte for Ci Media Cloud services

Sony is partnering with Deloitte, the Big Four consultancy, to help clients get started with its Ci Media Cloud application.

Sony is the world’s second biggest manufacturer of cameras. Additionally, the company  sells software that film studios can use to manage the video they record with its cameras.

The star of Sony’s creative software suite is the Ci Media Cloud. The application is also the focus of the company’s new partnership with Deloitte.

Ci Media Cloud is a cloud-based application that film studios, and other firms like ad agencies, use to store camera footage. The application allows a creative team to store all its media assets in one place, which has a couple major benefits.

The first is ease of access. When designers want to find a certain video clip, they can use Ci Media Cloud’s search bar instead of looking through all their team’s file sharing folders.

Another benefit of Ci Media Cloud is that it ensures everyone is working with the latest file versions.

If there are multiple copies of the same video going around a company, it’s plausible some employees will end up working with an old version. Centrally storing video assets in an application like Ci Media Cloud solves that issue.

The role Deloitte will be playing is helping film studios and other companies set up Ci Media Cloud. Such projects can consist of several parts.

First, there are nitty-gritty IT details like setting up Ci Media Cloud accounts for a company’s creative professionals. Afterwards, those employees have to be taught how to use the platform.

Some big companies integrate Ci Media Cloud with their other creative applications. Such integrations are used to automate tasks like uploading newly created clips from video editing tools.

Deloitte can build such integrations for clients. That saves time and, for companies that don’t have a big in-house engineering team, the hassle of hiring another in-house programmer.

“As they continue to champion cloud migration and adoption, Deloitte’s experience in building focused solutions and their skillful use of Ci’s APIs opens up new capabilities,” commented Sony vice president David Rosen.

Sony’s Ci Media Cloud is not just a video storage platform. It can also change the format of video files and back them up. Furthermore, it enables video teams to share feedback on media assets via embedded comments.

There are many customers that may be interested in Deloitte’s Ci Media Cloud services. The application is used by thousands of creative teams worldwide.
