Improving picks up Jump Analytics as it continues growth push

Improving, the Dallas-headquartered software development consultancy, has made another acquisition: a Canadian analytics firm called Jump Analytics.

The deal is a fairly significant one judging by the companies’ description of the financial details. Improving said that the addition of Jump Analytics to its corporate structure will push its annual sales above the $290 million mark.

Improving’s main area of expertise is building custom applications for large corporations and teaching their in-house software developers how to work more productively. It also operates in several other corners of the IT consulting landscape.

In 2018, a private equity firm called Trinity Hunt bought most of Improving and launched a major growth push. Using its new majority stakeholder’s resources, Improving bought more than 7 consultancies as a way of accelerating its revenue growth.

Last year, the company received another investment from Trinity Hunt to further scale its operations. That second investment was specifically designed to help Improving grow its presence in the U.S. and Canada, a goal that its newly closed acquisition of Jump Analytics advances.

Jump Analytics maintains offices in Toronto and Calgary. As the company’s name indicates, its main focus is assisting clients with business analytics tasks.

One type of project that the consultancy takes on is outsourced financial consolidation. That means Jump Analytics can work with a company to turn unprocessed accounting data from its subsidiaries into a high-level, easy to read financial performance report.

Jump Analytics also creates other types of reports. It can, for instance, put together a visual dashboard that tracks key metrics about a company’s sustainability initiatives.

Jump Analytics mainly carries out projects using big data analytics software from SAP and Microsoft. It boasts of having completed projects for corporate clients in more than 20 industries.

“Today marks a new chapter for our company. We are excited to join forces with Improving and believe that this acquisition will provide significant opportunities for growth and innovation,” remarked Jump Analytics partner Patrick Hickey.

The consultancy will continue to be led by its current executive team after Improving wraps up the corporate integration process.
