Aecom names former Deloitte executive Kristy Pipes to board

Aecom, a Fortune 500 consulting firm focused on infrastructure engineering, has named former Deloitte executive Kristy Pipes to its board of directors.

Aecom trades on the NYSE and closed its most recent fiscal year with more than $13.3 billion in revenue. The firm’s specialty is carrying out large-scale construction projects: Aecom has over the course of its history worked on skyscrapers, sports stadiums, airports and other multibillion-dollar developments.

Pipes is joining the company’s board after a two-decade career at Deloitte Consulting. She was most recently the group’s managing director and chief financial officer.

Deloitte Consulting is the management consulting arm of London-based IT services behemoth Deloitte. During Pipes’ time at the group, it grew to an organization with more than $10 billion in revenue and 50,000 employees.

Pipes will officially join the Aecom board on October 1. She will also become a member of the board’s audit committee, the key group of directors responsible for ensuring the accuracy of Aecom’s earnings reports.

As the former top financial executive at one of the world’s largest management consulting practices, Pipes will bring a lot of valuable know-how to the audit committee.

Pipes’ insight into the broader world of consulting will likewise be directly applicable for Aecom.

Although it competes in a different market than Deloitte, Aecom also generates its revenue from selling professional services to organizations. The leadership insights that Pipes brings over from Deloitte Consulting are directly relevant to Aecom’s core lines of business.

In a prepared statement, Aecom board chair Douglas Stotlar commented that “Kristy’s notable experience, leadership and broad range of professional services industry expertise will bolster our efforts to advance our strategy as we focus on holistically advising our clients and capitalizing on increasing long-term demand for critical infrastructure, sustainability and resilience.”
