Deloitte has partnered with Palo Alto Networks to launch SSDL, a software-plus-consulting offering designed to secure companies’ public cloud infrastructure.

Palo Alto Networks is one of the world’s largest cybersecurity software vendors. Deloitte is a long-time consulting partner of the firm and has won multiple awards for the work it can carried out on behalf of joint customers.

A public cloud environment has many moving pieces. There’s the infrastructure that companies rent from their cloud providers, as well as the applications deployed on this infrastructure and the associated user accounts.

All those components need to be separately secured, which is a lot of work. That’s where SSDL comes into the picture. 

SSDL is based on two Palo Alto Networks software products: PRISMA Cloud and XSOAR. Those products use AI to automatically spot security issues in a company’s cloud-based infrastructure and applications, as well as the user accounts tied to those assets.

Deloitte’s new SSDL offering combines Palo Alto Networks’ technology with custom code developed by the consulting giant. That code, the firms say, can automatically fix any cybersecurity issues that Palo Alto Networks’ products detect in a corporate cloud environment.

Deloitte also plans to assist clients with other tasks. In particular, it will manage the process of installing Palo Alto Networks’ software on clients’ cloud infrastructure.

That process can take weeks to months depending on the scale of the deployment. The reason is that there are many steps involved: a company must identify which employees should lead the effort, define the project requirements and then craft an action plan for meeting those requirements.

Deloitte can manage the entire workflow on clients’ behalf to save them time and money. The Big Four consultancy claims it can save thousands of hours of work for organizations.
