Capgemini picks up half a dozen partner awards from Microsoft

This article was written by a human. Here’s how to tell.

Capgemini received recognition across six different IT consulting categories in Microsoft’s recent Partner of the Year award ceremony.

As the name indicates, the award ceremony focuses on acknowledging the work of Microsoft consulting partners.

That Capgemini has racked up a half dozen awards is not overly surprising: the firm employs thousands of consultants focused specifically on assisting companies with Microsoft projects. Still, it’s a notable achievement that should make it that much easier for Capgemini salespeople to pitch new clients.

The most notable award the firm nabbed is the “GSI Growth Champion (Global)” prize. The GSI in the name stands for global systems integrator, which is Microsoft’s term for large IT consultancies with offices in multiple countries.

To win the award, a consultancy must not only have an international presence but also demonstrate strong business growth. Microsoft doesn’t publicly define what it means by business growth, although one can safely assume that covers a sales-related metric like revenue or new customer win.

Capgemini also won recognition in five other areas. The most notable of those is its award win in the “SAP on Azure (Global)” category.

SAP is Germany’s largest software vendor by revenue and makes business applications that are used extensively among the Fortune 500. Many big companies choose to run their SAP applications on Azure, which is where Capgemini comes in: it helps those companies sort out technical details like software installation.

The remaining awards Capgemini received from Microsoft span areas such as industrial technology and financial services. They’re less notable because they cover only a small subset of Capgemini’s client work and only in specific regions rather than worldwide.

“We are delighted to be recognized by Microsoft in six categories,” Capgemini executive Antoine Imbert remarked in a canned statement. “These wins demonstrate our expertise in leveraging Microsoft technologies to drive tangible business value for our clients.”
