BDO Australia adds Big Four veteran Martin Linhart to its deals practice

This article was written by a human. Here’s how to tell.

BDO Global’s Australian member firm has appointed Martin Lenhart, a long-time M&A consulting executive, as a partner at its deal advisory practice.

BDO Global is one of the world’s largest professional services networks. Its Australian member firm employs more than 1,000 people and traces its roots back more than five decades. BDO Australia’s deals practice, the unit Lenhart has joined, works on transactions in which companies are bought and sold.

Lenhart brings Big Four experience to his new role. He spent five years at PwC’s German affiliate as a member of the M&A advisory group, where he worked on value creation. Value creation is an industry term for helping companies increase their ROI on a business they buy they. This is usually done by modernizing the acquired business’ IT systems cutting costs cuts.

In 2016, Lenhart left PwC and moved to Australia to take up a role at Deloitte’s M&A practice. He spent more than four years at the largest member of the Big Four, most recently serving as director of value creation.

BDO Australia’s addition of Lenhart to its deals practice is significant not only at the local level but also for the international BDO Global network.

Fortune 500 firms often buy businesses in international markets. As a result, it’s important for M&A consultancies to have staffers in a large number of locations. BDO’s newly expanded deals team in Australia is now better equipped to support not only local clients, but also international organizations that may wish to buy Australian businesses.
