Bain appoints Tamara Lewis to helm of strategic Seattle office

This article was written by a human. Here’s how to tell.

Bain & Co. has appointed long-time insider Tamara Lewis to lead its office in Seattle, a major market for the management consultancy.

The Seattle metropolitan area is home to the headquarters of Amazon and Microsoft, as well as numerous other tech firms. Fortune 500 companies from other verticals also maintain their head offices in the city, with two of the most noteworthy examples being Costco and Alaska Airlines.

Despite the numerous revenue opportunities that Seattle holds for management consultancies, Bain only set up a local office in 2018. But the firm has made its best to make up for lost time: Bain says the office has grown fourfold since opening, but didn’t specify whether that growth happened with respect to headcount or refers to revenue gains.

Tamara Lewis, the office’s new top executive, was a member of the team that launched the location in 2018. She holds leadership roles across multiple Bain business units including the groups that advise clients in the machinery and technology verticals.

Lewis commented that “the greater Seattle area is home to some of the most admired, innovative companies in the world, many of which are a perfect match for Bain’s approach and capabilities.”

Lewis has spent practically her entire career at Bain. She joined the consultancy in 2008 as an associate consultant at its Boston office, rose to manager within five years and became a partner another five years later. She moved to Seattle in 2018 to help jumpstart its local business operations.
