Sikich buys rival to grow its multi-market consulting business
Sikich, a Chicago-based professional services firm with more than 1,400 employees, is acquiring a competing Windy City consultancy to expand its market presence.
Sikich and the consultancy that it’s acquiring, Accelerated Growth, focus on the same two markets: finance and technology.
“Adding the Accelerated Growth team strengthens our firm’s capabilities and enhances the foundation for us to scale our service offerings to our clients,” said Sikich CEO Chris Geier.
Sikich has a presence in multiple parts of the financial services sector. It provides accounting services for businesses, operates a division that advises companies on corporate acquisitions and also has a wealth management practice.
The firm’s other core focus area is IT.
Companies hire Sikich to implement complex software products such as Dynamics 365, Microsoft’s expansive suite of applications for managing supply chain operations and other core parts of a company’s business.
Sikich also assists clients with other tasks including IT infrastructure management. The company in August nabbed an award from Microsoft that is only issued to about one percent of the software giant’s partners.
Accelerated Growth, the firm Sikich is buying, also provides a mix of IT and finance services to clients.
Accelerated Growth works with companies’ accounting teams to implement software tools and procedures that can improve their productivity. The firm also assists clients with other types of corporate finance projects, as well as IT tasks such as creating easy-to-read visualizations of business data for a company’s executives.
Accelerated Growth’s past and present client list includes more than 300 companies. They range from startups to the venture capital arms of Fortune 500 firms.
Sikich plans to complete its acquisition of Accelerated Growth by the end of the month. Afterwards, the latter firm’s approximately 120 employees will join the Sikich workforce.
