North Highland promotes Anthony Shaw to managing director

Management consultancy North Highland has promoted Anthony Shaw, its top executive in the UK, to the role of managing director.

North Highland is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia and maintains more than 50 offices worldwide. It works on the usual range of management consulting projects for clients:  optimizing supply chains, improving the customer experience and finding other ways to make a company run more smoothly.

Another major focus area for North Highland is data analytics.

Companies use analytics software to collect information about their employees’ work and find opportunities to increase productivity. Collecting that information requires highly specialized IT know-how, which companies often don’t have in-house.

North Highland can sort out the technical details involved in data analytics projects. In addition, the firm assists clients with other types of IT projects, like creating a way for business departments to share business information.

Newly appointed North Highland managing director Anthony Shaw first came aboard in 2017. He was until now the vice president of the firm’s U.K. business.

Of the more than 3,500 people who work at North Highland, fewer than 10 have the title of managing director. The exact responsibilities vary, but a North Highland managing director is usually in charge of running one key business unit within the firm.

In his new role, Shaw will continue to lead the firm’s UK division with a stronger focus on three areas: business expansion, client value creation and employee engagement. Shaw will also help shape North Highland’s big-picture business strategy.

“Through his leadership, Anthony has elevated the firm’s UK business beyond expectations,” commented Barbara Ray, the North Highland managing director in charge of client services. “A natural-born leader, he has delivered significant business growth and fostered a culture of collaboration and integration across the firm’s U.S. and UK operations, all while building and developing teams with a sharp focus on diversity.”

Before joining North Highland in 2017, Shaw was an executive at Spanish telecommunications provider Telefonica. He led the business unit responsible for helping Telefonica turn emerging technologies into new products.

Previously, Shaw was a principal at KPMG’s IT advisory practice. Shaw’s resume also includes a stint at Accenture, another consultancy with a major presence in the IT services market.
