Marsh elevates Sarah Stephens to key U.S. leadership role
Sarah Stephens, a long-time insurance executive who joined Marsh in 2019, has been named as the firm’s new US Central Zone Leader.
Stephens will be responsible for leading the 18 offices that comprise Marsh’s U.S. Central Zone business unit. She will be responsible for new client acquisition, recruiting and the other key tasks the head of a major business unit is usually in charge of managing.
Marsh is an insurance broker, meaning it acts as an intermediary in insurance deals. Companies turn to it for help picking and purchasing coverage plans.
Marsh has more than 45,000 employees operating in 130 countries. It’s part of Marsh McLennan, a massive consulting firm that generates annual revenues of about $20 billion.
Marsh is one of Marsh McLennan’s four main subsidiaries. The other units focus on the management consulting, reinsurance and investment services sectors.
Stephens originally joined the firm in 2019 from JLT. That was the name of a publicly traded insurance broker Marsh’s parent company, Marsh McLennan, bought the same year for £4.3 billion.
Before her current role, Stephens worked at the firm’s specialty insurance business. She led the part of the business that sells insurance against cybersecurity incidents to firms in the U.K. and other international markets.
Stephens was until now based in U.K. As part of the promotion, she will relocate back to Chicago, where she began her career in the insurance sector about two decades ago.
Stephens commented that “I’m excited to relocate back to Chicago where I started my career and work with colleagues across the Central region to deliver the insights and solutions clients need to manage their risks effectively and grow.”
