Kyndryl launches an AI-powered technical support automation tool

Professional services heavyweight Kyndryl has expanded its pre-packaged software lineup with an automation tool called Digital Twin for the Workplace.

NYSE-listed Kyndryl is a former IBM unit that focuses mainly on managing other organizations’ IT infrastructure. It also competes in certain other parts of the technology services market. The firm can help clients with tasks such as porting mainframe software to the cloud and designing user interfaces.

Digital Twin for the Workplace, Kyndryl’s new software product, is designed to help companies fix technical issues in employee devices. According to the company, the tool can also preempt outages in some cases. It does so by collecting telemetry from endpoints and loading them into AI agents that look for malfunction indicators. If they find one, Digital Twin for the Workplace notifies administrators.

The software is built on a Microsoft product called Microsoft Foundry. It’s a suite of cloud services that companies can use to build AI agents. It also speeds up certain related tasks, such as giving agents access to third-party applications that they can use to automate business tasks. Microsoft Foundry is powered by LLMs from the likes of OpenAI and Anthropic.

Repairing employee devices isn’t the only task that Digital Twin for the Workplace can speed up. According to Kyndryl, the tool also lends itself to planning IT changes such as patch rollouts. The software simulates the impact of planned updates to determine whether they might cause technical issues. Administrators can use the information generated during the process to adjust their IT upgrade playbooks.
