Inkhouse bolsters leadership team after banner year
Boston-based public relations firm Inkhouse is strengthening its leadership team with five executive promotions spanning several key parts of its business.
The management reshuffle follows a year in which the firm experienced significant sales growth.
Inkhouse launched in 2007 and has since built up a client list that includes major brands such as Xerox, Puma and Toyota’s Toyota Research Institute subsidiary. The firm’s workforce is spread out across more than 10 cities throughout the U.S.
The five executives who Inkhouse has promoted to new roles are all long-time employees of the firm. The decision to promote from within as opposed to hiring outside talent is usually a deliberate decision on companies’ part that pays dividends in the employee retention department.
The first Inkhouse executive who has landed a new role is Dan O’Mahony. O’Mahony will take over Inkhouse’s West Coast unit with the dual responsibility of expanding the firm’s geographic presence in the region and growing its digital content services business.
O’Mahony was previously the general manager of Inkhouse’s California team. The California team will now be led by Anne Baker, a 10-year veteran of the firm.
Inkhouse’s East Coast division, in turn, will be led by newly appointed managing director Ed Harrison. He will focus on expanding the firm’s client roster in the region’s major cities.
Inkhouse has also named Samantha McGarry as its executive vice president of story crafting, while Lisa van der Pool was promoted to executive vice president of media strategy. Those are two of the most important jobs at the firm: McGarry and van der Pool will a key role in shaping how Inkhouse pitches its PR clients to journalists.
The promotions follow a year in which Inkhouse grew annual client billings by over 10%. In the same period, Inkhouse expanded its workforce by about 50% to over 150 employees.
“There is one currency that is stable in any economy: reputation,” commented Inkhouse president Jason Morris. “Dan, Ed, Anne, Sam and Lisa have played a major role in that growth, helping us deliver new services, grow our practice groups, and attract and retain the top integrated communications talent in the industry.”
