Former Deloitte CIO Larry Quinlan joins Boomi’s board
Tech executive Larry Quinlan, the former CIO of accounting and consulting giant Deloitte, has joined the board of a $4 billion software firm called Boomi as an independent director.
Quinlan is also a director at another software company, ServiceNow, that focuses on the corporate market.
Boomi is not a household name, but it’s an important one to know for CIOs. The company’s software products are used by more than 20,000 organizations to move business data between their systems, as well as to and from the systems of their partners.
Boomi used to be a part of Dell until last year. It became a separate company through a $4 billion transaction led by a pair of private equity firms.
“Boomi’s recent launch as a standalone organization – coupled with our category-leading technology and rapid customer growth – provides us the opportunity to continue to build an unparalleled leadership team,” said Boomi boss David Meredith.
Quinlan brings more than 35 years of industry experience to the Boomi board. He is the former CIO of Deloitte, the largest accounting network in the world.
Deloitte has a sizable technology consulting business that maintains partnerships with many software firms, including Boomi. Deloitte is a key partner for software firms because it works with most of the world’s largest corporations and has the ear of their technology executives.
As CIO of the accounting and consulting giant, Quinlan led a team of more than 10,000 IT professionals spanning 175 countries. The executive not only set the strategy that determined how Deloitte used technology internally, but also advised the firm’s top corporate clients on IT and cybersecurity.
Quinlan led the Deloitte CIO Academy during his time at the firm. The Deloitte CIO Academy is a program through which Deloitte works with technical executives at major corporations to sharpen their skills and increase their chances of landing the much-coveted CIO role.
