Crowe’s U.S. member firm doubles down on ChatGPT

Crowe LLP, the U.S. affiliate of professional services network Crowe, is expanding its use of OpenAI’s technology.

The initiative focuses on two products: ChatGPT Enterprise and OpenAI’s API suite. Crowe LLP is making both available to its entire workforce. According to its website, the consultancy employs more than 6,000 professionals.

ChatGPT Enterprise is a heavily upgraded version of the eponymous chatbot that is geared towards large organizations. It includes higher usage caps than the other paid plans. As a result, workers can enter more prompts per day with higher word count and attachment size limits. More importantly for enterprises, the service includes an expanded set of administrative controls. IT departments can connect ChatGPT Enterprise to their company’s single sign-on workflow and monitor user activity.

“AI is already transforming how we work, and this deployment ensures our people are fully equipped to lead that change,” Crowe CEO Steven Strammello said in a prepared statement.

In addition to making the chatbot available firm-wide, Crowe is expanding its use of OpenAI’s APIs. Those APIs allow developers to incorporate the AI developer’s LLMs into their software. Crowe LLP’s announcement didn’t go into detail about its plans. In January, however, the consultancy divulged that it was planning to use OpenAI’s APIs to build AI applications for customers in verticals such as the finance and manufacturing sectors.

Like many other large accounting firms, Crowe LLP has an IT consulting practice. One that practice’s focus areas is helping companies build custom AI software. Crowe LLP can work with clients to design machine learning applications that extract data from business documents, forecast customer demand and perform other repetitive tasks. The consultancy also builds AI software for industry-specific use cases such as predicting when industrial machinery will require maintenance.
