Capgemini caps fiscal 2022 with €5.754 billion quarter

IT services heavyweight Capgemini earned €5.754 billion in fee income during the fourth quarter, 12.8% more than during the year-ago period.

The company’s robust fourth quarter showing helped it reach a symbolic milestone. Capgemini closed the books on fiscal 2022 with total revenues of €21.995 billion, which marks the first time in the firm’s history it has crossed the €20 billion yearly sales mark.

Capgemini provides a broad menu of IT services to corporate clients, with a particular focus on the manufacturing and financial services sectors. The two sectors accounted for 27% and 21% of the firm’s fourth quarter revenues, respectively, or nearly half its total sales.

The manufacturing sector, Capgemini’s home turf, produced some significant new deals for the firm in the quarter fourth. Capgemini’s manufacturing services business increased its revenue by 19.9% year-over-year, which made it the firm’s second fastest growing business unit.

Broken down by region, North America was Capgemini’s most lucrative market in the final three months of 2022. And broken by solution type, Capgemini’s strategy and transformation services saw the biggest spike in demand.

Strategy and transformation services currently only account for 8% of the firm’s total revenue. But that number is growing quickly: the revenue generated by this part of Capgemini’s business surged 25.4% in the fourth quarter, meaning it grew over twice as fast as the company overall.

Capgemini’s strategy and transformation practice focuses on helping companies implement major business moves that involve technology. The practice can give physical retailers a hand with their e-commerce projects, or advise a bank on what new digital services to launch for clients.

Capgemini estimates that demand for its services will keep growing in the current fiscal year. The firm is guiding 4-7% constant currency revenue growth for fiscal 2023.
