Bain gets top marks from IDC for its employee experience services

Bain & Company has been named a leader in the employee experience consulting market by IDC, an influential research firm.

Executives at the world’s largest companies often consult with IDC when they need assistance choosing a consultancy. IDC reviews different consultancies’ capabilities, compares them with one another and points out which firms a company should consider hiring.

Because IDC’s assessments directly influence client buying decisions, getting named a leader by the research firm is a major win for a company. That’s true even for Bain, which already receives enough external recognition as it is given its position in the management consulting sector’s prestigious Big Three club. 

IDC named Bain a leader in the employee experience consulting category. Employee experience consulting is the discipline of advising companies on how to create a more positive and productive workplace for employees.

A lot of different factors go into providing a solid employee experience. Companies have to ensure employees’ IT support requests are answered on time, carry out performance reviews in a thoughtful way and check off many other to-do items that often vary across business units. 

Because there are so many moving pieces, companies often turn to consultants such as Bain for assistance.

Bain not only comes up with ideas for improving the employee experience at a firm but also ensures they’re implemented correctly. It also assists with auxiliary tasks, such as setting up new software that can make it easier for the HR team to implement employee experience improvements.

IDC gave Bain high marks in this area. The research firm praised Bain’s for its “HR technology competency” and “digital transformation” expertise.

Consultants often work on company’s employee experience project for a limited amount of time and then move on. From there,  it’s the company’s responsibility to ensure the best practices developed by the consultants continue to be followed in the long term. 

That’s often easier said than done, especially in large organizations that tend to be less open to shaking up existing organizational business processes. IDC praised Bain for its investment in this area: IDC says that, in client engagements, Bain “supports the organization to easily transition between working with and without a partner organization.”
